**Caution: Some comments may be disturbing to read, but we feel that to sugar-coat these comments would undermine the purpose of this site. Date: October 26, 2000 Comments: I was drugged in the early part of 1999, and I have been receiving this newsletter for a very long time now and am so grateful for the awareness and help it provides people. A dance club that was in the news quite a bit this summer with reports of girls passing out on the dance floor and having to be taken to the ER, is taking measures to stop GHB. Bad publicity and the threat of lawsuits might be why, but they have detailed, large bright signs hung out around the outside telling of their GHB-free policy and what the signs and symptoms of a GHB drugging includes. And then the usually searches for anyone who may be able to hide weapons- pocket checks and etc. are now more extensive and include looking eye drop bottles and things GHB may be stored in.
It's a preventative measure that is the result of negative events but at least
they are doing something about it.
Name: I was using the over-the-counter form of GHB called "Renewtrient" for about 6 months. It was sold to me as a dietary supplement that allows better sleep and "renews" your body's energy. Unfortunately, I was stopped 3 times for DUI in less than 60 days. In two of those incidents I had passed out completely, behind the wheel, on the interstate. Damage? [Heck] yes. I went into a rehab facility at the local hospital, and am now on 2 years of Felony probation. Driving again? Not for 5 years. I am only 25 years old, and honestly, this isn't close to my idea of life. I wish I had read a site like this BEFORE I ever took the first swallow of that foul tasting liquid. I am very thankful that all I hit was a barrier wall, and not a car with a mother and children in it. Thanks for listening, and please be careful.
Name: Keith I feel the pain from your story. Last Christmas, my friend and I went to a city near by and found a 20 ounce bottle full of G for 25 dollars and decided to buy it. About two days later my friend drank too much and she had to go to the hospital. It was horrible, I thought I lost her. I haven't drank it since.
Name: Stacey Heams I am a Police Officer and I would be interested in teaching a program at the University that I work for. I believe this drug is a dangerous problem on campus today. I will discuss the laws and effects of this drug. I would appreciate any more information that you have to offer. Thank You Officer Heams
Name: Withheld I understand that you are trying to keep this drug off the streets and out of
the hands of the young, and highly influenced young Americans. With that said, I
have Narcolepsy. I know that you aren't trying to keep GHB from being approved
for us. First let me tell you about my first experiences with GHB. I have never
been a drug user, or even a drinker, but several of my friends and co-workers
began taking it to get "drunk" with out drinking. They took it at
work, when going out, or just to sleep. They all got sick, stumbled, etc. One
friend combined it with several other drugs, and alcohol and ended up in a coma
for a day. Thankfully, no one died. I thought GHB was the worst thing in the
world. But now, with my narcolepsy and cataplexy getting worse almost daily, I
pray that it will be legalized soon. I am only 21 years old and wondering how I
am supposed to handle the rest of my life. I know you aren't against it being
used medically, but others are and they use stuff like this to add fuel to the
fire. Please let everyone know that GHB, like ALL prescription drugs, is unsafe
and potentially deadly to anyone who doesn't take it for the right reasons and
right doses.
Name: Jason Hello, my name is Jason I am a 30 year old gay white male in Florida. I am a nightclub DJ and I also have been doing house parties or "after-hours" parties as well. First let me say this, Today I feel Happy to be ALIVE! Last night I DJ'd an after hours party at a house in Orlando where everyone was having a good time, (about 4AM) I was playing some really good dance music for everyone, and a "friend" comes up to me and offers me a glass of juice that had some unknown amount of GHB in it. I wanted to "swirl" a liitle bit while I was playing my set, no harm right?... WRONG. About 5 minutes or less while mixing the music i just sat in my chair at my DJ setup and the music felt so wonderfuly good and vibrant. I felt like i was actually being sucked in the music, so I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the ride (for about a minute). Three hours later (about 7:30AM) I woke up on a bed in a room full of people that were still partying. I had no idea, and still cant remember anything from the time I consumed the GHB until I woke up. When I woke up, everyone (about 20 or 30 people) was just looking at me and laughing at the situation and telling me things like i was climbing the walls, being hit in the face with pillows, had been administered about a gram of cocaine (which I don't even do), and the fact that I scared so many people at the party because they thought I was going to die. They said they couldn't even find a pulse at first but that I kept responding verbally to them. It's amazing I'm still alive after all that, and in doing some really deep thinking about what happened, and thanks to a good friend for showing me this web site I have now decided to start an ANTI GHB campaign in any of the night clubs that I work at, and at all of the after hours or house parties that I DJ at. And I will NEVER again touch that S#*T... Today I have a new outlook on life, It's amazing it took this for me to see it all, but through my efforts If I can help just one person learn about the bad effects of GHB, or save one person's life then my "not so bad" of a trip last night is worth it. My working in gay clubs and at parties puts me dead center of all this GHB nonsense, and I would like to personally take a stand against it and do whatever I can to inform others of what it is doing or going to do to people. GHB, not only does it ruin your night (and maybe your life) it really doesn't help your image when you act like the way I act last night, and it really does scare your friends, and ruins their night too so please, everyone that does GHB or any form of it STOP IT NOW... Let's party responsibly, and LIVE to do it again next weekend... Peace, Love, Unity, Respect to you all.
Name: Kathryn James I was engaged to a wonderful man. He had just graduated from college at UALR, and was to start law school in August. He was only 27 years old, and full of life. He had everything in the world going for him. Unfortunately, his life was cut short because of GHB... after experiencing GHB withdrawal symptoms. I, too, took GHB with my fiancé, on many occasions, but knew nothing of the ill effects it could cause. My life is forever changed. He was all that I knew of a future. Please do not take this drug. If Tyler's death saves one life a purpose has been served. I do not want anyone to go through the pain I have experienced. It isn't worth the pain... [See Tyler's page]

I am writing because I have been wondering something about this city Las Vegas is the city I am writing about and I used to like to go to the There is nothing I can do so I read your newsletter just to see what is being done about this horrible, life threatening, disgusting monster of a drug. My inquiry about Las Vegas is that with all the ambulances I have seen outside all of the clubs and C2K (a club inside the Venetian Resorts) recently being shut down (the only nightclub publicized for having someone DIE due to drugs) WHY does it seem that the city of Las Vegas is doing nothing to educate people and seems to be ignoring the real use of GHB? I mean, at every night club people are not just putting in unsuspecting victims' drinks, they are using it for their own "good time, let's get all messed up and have fun night." I wonder if this city is just not wanting to let the word get out about it's, what I feel is excessive, GHB threat to people that live here and tourists alike. Why is their no news reports about the number of people being taken to emergency rooms in one week's time? The only reports I've heard of are that GHB is a date rape drug. We now know that is not the only truth. I have just been wondering these things and I am sure the authorities are
aware of the local situation, but I also know that there is an entire city that
is pretty much oblivious to it. Maybe you know something about how this city
could be made more aware just like you've done to others around the country.
Thank you for letting me have my say. |
