I am 38yrs. old. I was vacationing in Key West up until last night. I was having a drink before dinner with my husband when I became totally incoherent. My husband called for assistance and I was rushed to the hospital. I am very grateful for your site and would like to let others know that I am 38 years old, I am not a person who drinks regularly or uses drugs, I am lucky to be alive. The reaction I had was miserable and even now 24 hours later feel the effects. This drug can not ever be confused as a helpful health tool. I am at a loss as to how to prevent this from ever happening to me again. I am scared!

Sun 12/9/01

A seventeen yr old took one cap full of ghb alone and decided to increase the feeling by taking another 2 cap fulls. He felt good after one cap full but wanted more. The experience was not living up to his expectations. This was his 1st  time experience. After taking the 2 additional cap fulls 15 to 20 minutes later he passed out. Breathing became very shallow. No possible responses from him. He was a rag doll. He started foaming from the mouth. His girlfriend was panicking after no response and now foam coming from his mouth, called his parents. Father tried yelling, slapping him, turning him over trying to make him vomit with no luck. Called 911 due to lack of knowledge of what to do. Picked him up and put him in a cold shower. Finally got a moan from him. That was the only response. Eyes non responsive. Breathing still barely to none.... Stood him up ... Walking him still non responsive....ending up at the hospital riding things out. Yes he survived. Parents barely survived. Total bad experience for all involved, and very sorry it all happened.

This drug has affected my children's life as well as mine. The man that i married is no longer the same as well as their father. I went for help in an emergency room and was told it only makes him sleepy and has no side effects. I went to va counselors, employee assistance program counselors, etc. They never even heard of this drug and it's effects. I watched this man black out, sleep while standing, sitting up with his eyes open. I watched the tremors, convulsions, memory loss, etc. And i had no! Help or support from any one to get him help or any support for me. I was told he is a grown man and he knows how much of these health store stimulants he and his body can take. Not so... When does the help come for these people and these families that are affected by this drug? It is too late for anyone to get help when they are dead or the brain is so badly affected.
