My brother started drinking liquid G about 4 years ago. At first, it was for his body building, but later on, it was apparent that he was using the drug for more recreational purposes. Soon his friends were taking it when they went out to bars and clubs. With their ingestion of "G", they were also drinking alcohol. My brother crashed his truck twice, and his Mustang. After GHB stopped being sold in health food stores, he started drinking alcohol more and more. He became an alcoholic. Now, he has no job, lives at home, his car has been repossessed, and he'll soon be filing for bankruptcy. His cognitive awareness is very low, and he cannot remember things as clearly as he used to. GHB has affected his brain and he is probably unable to live on his own. He cannot remember to do things or write checks, pay bills. Ironically enough, I recently moved into a place and found out my roommate MAKES GHB. I told him what happened to my brother. GHB is NOT a wonder drug. It's used to remove paint!? I wouldn't recommend ANYONE use GHB unless you have an extreme case of narcolepsy. In the long term, your brain will deteriorate. Your cognitive thinking skills will be lowered. My brother is living proof of the negative effects of GHB. Find other alternatives for relaxing....please!

Subject: Thank you!

I just want to encourage your "project ghb" campaign.  I do not have time to say much but I am the wife of a recovered GHB user.  The three year road to recovery was treacherous for our family.  However the most difficult part of it was the fact that police, paramedics, and even the doctors had no idea what GHB was or how it affected the body or how to help get my husband help.  He was declared "5150" twice and sent to a county mental hospital.  He died three times from overdose and then was revived by the ER doctors only to baffle them with the swiftness of his recovery.  I spent most of my last month of my first pregnancy in the emergency room and police stations waiting for them to release my husband.  All the while, I researched GHB and made copies of all that I found in order to educate the doctors and police in our town.  Still, they viewed me as some blind fanatic.  It was as though they would rather not know and send him on his way then have to forge new frontiers in drug use and abuse.  I really am glad that there are others out there now.  I have a family to raise, so I can not fight this fight all on my own.  I know there are many others out there.

In closing, I would just like to report that by the power of God almighty, my husband is sober.  I have learned a lot about forgiveness and the power of love and mercy. And the heart of each of my children is being repaired "one day at a time".
Thank you for your diligence.

Sincerely,
Michelle

Recently at a party I was exposed to this GHB a friend took some...one minute she was fine the next she wasn't breathing right she started sweating really bad....then she started puking but the whole time she was not there her body was but it was truly like she was in a coma...it took us a while to get her to come around but when she did it took a while for it to really wear off...she was still puking and stuff...the whole time her friends were just saying "Oh let her sleep it off. let her get her "G" nap" I don't think that would be an advisable thing to do...

RESPONSE: No, you are right. Letting someone "sleep it off" is dangerous advice. Most people do sleep it off, and those who don't are called DEAD.

Hello,

I'm a girl who is only 14 years old right now! I found this website when I was doing a project called, "Is Freedom Really Free?" I didn't know about GHB until I was looking at a magazine in our school's library...I really didn't know what to think about it...I really would like to do something but I really don't know what! I started reading about this Tina girl in the Seventeen Magazine and I was wondering why in the heck would you do this stuff..Now I realize my life isn't as easy as it seems...I would like to do reports on this at my school and talk to them but I really don't know how! I hope many people read about GHB and realize what kindof hazard it is! And what is all does to you and how it effects your body! So I would like to give my sympathy who has lost their loved ones who lost their lives who took GHB and I hope they are pulling through....Thanks
