Project GHB, Inc. was originally formed by
parents who have suffered loss due to GHB. Many of the board
members continue to be parents, relatives and involved
citizens who are volunteering their own time to help educate
others on the dangers of GHB. Our current board is made up
the fine individuals to the left.
We would like to recognize:
-
Cooley
Advertising for their enormous assistance to
Project GHB, Inc. [brochures
& posters]
-
NAADAC
- "...the premier global organization of addiction focused
professionals who enhance the health and recovery of
individuals, families, and communities."

"I became involved with Project GHB approximately one
year before the death of my son, Benjamin Croman. At that
time it was "Ashes on the Sea." I desperately needed help as
my son was heavily addicted and came close to death. I
needed information to help him and to become educated
myself. I have been in the business world for 35-plus years
and am honored to serve on the board of Project GHB." |

Kyle's Mom

Mother of Kyle Hagmann, a young man whose
tragic death was ignored by a law enforcement agency. The
supplier continued to sell drugs on the college campus for
three more years before finally being arrested on a drug
charge. This is another case where the system failed to bring
about closure and justice, being left on the shelf until it
was too late (by about two weeks) to prosecute for
manslaughter (California has a three-year statute of
limitations on manslaughter cases) though numerous other cases
had been successfully prosecuted by that time. |
Suki deJong, Board Member
sukidejong@msn.com
Suki has been the South Florida team
leader for Project GHB since 2003 . She became involved with
Project GHB after the DEA referred her to Trinka Porrata in
response to her inquiries to the agency about the drug that
caused the demise of her only child, Julius Samuel deJong.
Julius passed away on Sept. 9, 2002 from an accidental drug
overdose in a Miami apartment. He had been using GHB for a
year, and although other drugs were involved, all his
friends said it was the "G" that did it.
As a filmmaker, it became her mission to investigate her
son's death. When it became clear to her through interviews
with his friends and others that GHB was indeed addicting
and lethal and her son had been taking it as a bodybuilding
supplement and as an alcohol substitue in Miami clubs prior
to his death, it became obvious to her that he was addicted
to GHB, but probably didn't know it. She wanted to educate
other young adults and parents about this insidious drug by
producing a documentary film concerning the lethal and
addictive qualities of GHB. She is now in pre-production for
the 1/2 hour film in Sedona, AZ. The film is scheduled to be
completed in May of 2007.
"I hope to make a positive contribution to Project GHB by
the release of the film, Shattering the Silence. It's a
story that desperately needs to be told, as GHB continues to
be "the silent drug".
